Cyclocross is coming in 2018!

Twilight Dirt Track Racing will feature at the Newcastle Regional Show on Friday 2 March 2018, following the Opening Ceremony.  

Cyclocross is a fast-paced cycling sport, offering exciting viewing for spectators.  Cyclocross is new to the Newcastle Regional Show lineup and is run in conjunction with the Hunter District Cycle Club and Cyclocross Newcastle. Two races with infield obstacles and a Le Mans start will provide an exhilarating experience for racers and spectators.

2017 Newcastle Showgirl

Meet Lou

Everyone meet Lou.  Lou and his family have been part of the Newcastle Show for many years. His famous clowns have featured in newspapers, promos and even the front page of our Official Show Guide. The Show wouldn’t be the same without him. To see our interview with Lou, visit our Facebook page.

HAVE-a-GO Bowling!

Have-a-Go bowling was a popular addition to the Newcastle Regional Show entertainment line-up in 2017, proving that lawn bowls isn’t only for the older generation!  If you missed out, be sure to visit the bowling ‘green’ at the 2018 Show!

Competition Results

Competitions are well underway at this year’s Newcastle Regional Show. There have been fantastic entries in all our competitions this year displaying creativity and commitment. To see 2017 competition results for icing and decorating, handcraft and dogs  click here. 

Visit the goats

Goat judging has kicked off and is on all morning at the show! Showcasing diary kids first up. Head down and check out the award winning goats.

Gates open at 9am

Gates open today at 9am. It is grandparent day, for each paying entry, one grandparent will be allowed free entry. The Wanderers car park has been closed by Newcastle City Council due to weather conditions. Plenty to see and do at the Show. Some of the things are visiting the animal nursery opening from 10am, watching the Snake Tails Reptile show at 10am and don’t forget our agricultural and competition displays. See you at the Show.

Snake Tails Reptile Show

The Snake Tails reptile show is on today at 2pm and Sunday 12noon and 2pm. Come and join in on the fun in the agriculture section.

Competitions underway

Horses are on today at the Newcastle Regional Show with some fantastic classes to watch. The Hunter Campdraft Cup has been cancelled due to safety concerns. However there are a number of competitions on today including the cooking competition judging. To see Saturday’s full day planner click here.

Friday at the Show

The show is in full swing. Friday was a great day at the show with centre ring entertainment, countless competitions including junior cattle judging and jam and pickle judging as well as many rides to please all. Come and enjoy the fun on Saturday and Sunday. To see photos from Friday click here.

Ticket deals

After dark tickets, entry after 5pm, $8 an adult, $5 a child and concession. On Sunday, there is bring your grandparent day, for each paying entry, one grandparent will be allowed free entry. For more information click here

Colouring competition winners

Due to so many wonderful entries the judges have also awarded 2nd, 3rd, highly commended, commended as well as special prizes. All have been given certificates which will be posted out after the show. Every poster entered will be on display throughout the show weekend in the entertainment centre. Team D-MAX to launch new show in Newcastle

Australia’s most famous precision driving outfit, Team D-MAX return to the Newcastle Regional Show this week with a brand new show, made possible by two local presenting sponsors, Newcastle Isuzu UTE and Monster Lubricants. Performing three demonstrations daily, Friday through Sunday, 35 year old Team D-MAX Lead Driver Jack Monkhouse said the team has some exciting transformations planned that will enhance the existing show.  To read the full store click here.

Show receives government grant

The NSW Government has stepped in with a $40,000 grant to help keep the 2017 Newcastle Regional Show afloat. For the show to have a sustainable future, the government will investigate alternative revenue streams to keep it afloat beyond 2017. The Show visits Ronald McDonald House

Newcastle Regional Show’s visit to Ronald McDonald House Newcastle today, March 1, put a smile on many faces when the latest toy showbags were distributed to families staying at the house. Brett Gleeson said “we wanted to bring a little light with some of the show’s fun and excitement to the families with hospitalised children,” To read the full story click here.

Update on cattle competition

The Cattle Judging Competition, set down for Saturday March 4, has been cancelled due to lack of entries . Please stress that the Junior Cattle Judging Competition, involving students from regional schools, will still be conducted on Friday March 3 with more than 30 entrants. Community Stage Program

We welcome donkeys Becky and Ingrid

We are pleased to announce donkeys Becky and Ingrid will be returning to this year’s Newcastle Regional Show. The soft nature animals will be located in the agriculture precinct next to the showbags. Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary Inc is a non-profit registered charity who take care for rescued donkeys by offering shelter, food, refuge and care for abandoned, neglected, mistreated or ill donkeys.
