Team D-MAX to launch new show in Newcastle

Australia’s most famous precision driving outfit, Team D-MAX return to the Newcastle Regional Show this week with a brand new show, made possible by two local presenting sponsors, Newcastle Isuzu UTE and Monster Lubricants.

Performing three demonstrations daily, Friday through Sunday, 35 year old Team D-MAX Lead Driver Jack Monkhouse said the team has some exciting transformations planned that will enhance the existing show.

“Choreographed to a brand new soundtrack, each performance will feature a range of daring vehicle stunts and close formation driving,” Mr Monkhouse said.

“Crowd favourites, such as driving on two wheels, jumping the Utes over one another and the incredibly spectacular head-to-head four-way crossover will all feature in the show,” he added.

Joining Monkhouse in Newcastle are stunt drivers Dave Shannon age 63, Michael Long age 32, and Paul Goodwin age 48.

Formed originally as the Holden Precision Driving Team in the 1960’s, the four-car team has been a popular main arena entertainment attraction at major capital city and regional agricultural shows all around Australia for almost 50 years.

The team now utilise Isuzu D-MAX SX Crew Cab Utes powered by a three litre turbo diesel engine for their performance fleet and are expected to perform at more than 30 shows this year.

Team D-MAX Spokesperson Luke Gemmill said the ever-rising demand for the precision driving team coincides directly with the increasing popularity of Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) as an automotive brand.

“Since EMG Precision Driving partnered with IUA in 2013, vehicle sales have more than doubled,” Mr Gemmill said.

“In 2016 IUA sold a record 23,377 vehicles, compared with 10,089 vehicles in 2013,” he added.

Team D-MAX will perform on Friday: 3:30pm, 6:30pm and 8:00pm. Saturday: 4:00pm, 6:40pm and 8:00pm. Sunday: 1:45pm, 3:10pm, and 3:40pm.

Between performances there will be plenty of opportunity for show visitors to meet the drivers, attend poster signings, take photos and get up close to the D-MAX UTES.
