The country-inspired extravaganza starts Saturday with the horse classes in the morning followed by tent pegging and campdraft. Then after five, all the excitement of the rodeo with barrel racing, steer and bull riding, followed by the country concert with tunes from Aurora Fall, Matt Scullion and Kristy Coote and her band.
Come down to the centre ring for all the thrills and spills as the rodeo makes a welcome return to the Newcastle Show.
Barrel Racing requires riders to charge through the gate and negotiate the barrel course in a thrilling race against the clock. The quicker the competitor completes the cloverleaf pattern the higher the score!
Steer Riding is a classic rodeo event showcasing the age old contest between man and horse. Timing, skill and strength are the name of the game in this country classic!
Arguably the Rodeo’s most popular event, Bull Riding pits a daring rider against one tonne of raw, unstoppable power. judges award points based on the duration of the ride, the control the rider displays and of course, the aggression of the bull!
